Overview
Company snapshot
Public corporate-information services record Yantrolok Private Limited as incorporated on 24 July 2025. A StartInUP profile identifies Abhijit Chandra Roy as founder, Karru Venkata Ravi Teja as director and Animangsu Ghatak as partner.[2][3]
Background
History and origin
According to Yantrolok's company history, the idea grew from research discussions at the Indian Institute of Science during the COVID-19 period. The founders were exploring technologies that could reduce direct contact during healthcare emergencies and identified tactile sensing as a limitation in conventional rigid machines.[1]
Early work investigated soft, stretchable sensing approaches that could mimic aspects of human tactile perception.
Yantrolok Private Limited was incorporated and began organizing the research into an application-led technology platform.
The company is developing prototypes and seeking research, clinical and product-development collaborations.
Core technology
Soft electronic-skin platform
Yantrolok describes its platform as a soft, conformable sensing layer intended to detect pressure and touch across curved, flexible or large-area surfaces. The proposed system combines sensor materials, sensor arrays, readout electronics and software that interprets the resulting signals.[1]
Soft sensor layer
Flexible sensing structures designed to conform to bodies, machines and product surfaces.
Sensor arrays
Distributed sensing points intended to map how pressure or touch varies across an area.
Embedded electronics
Readout, calibration and communication components that convert sensor response into data.
Interpretation layer
Software workflows for visualization, pattern analysis and application-specific outputs.
Product direction
Application areas
The platform is being explored for settings in which rigid sensing solutions may not conform well to a person, machine or product. These remain development areas rather than claims of completed commercial deployment.
- HealthcarePressure mapping, rehabilitation interfaces and patient-monitoring concepts.
- RoboticsTactile layers for grippers, prosthetic systems and collaborative robots.
- WearablesBody-conforming sensing where comfort and signal quality must work together.
- Human-machine interfacesTouch-aware surfaces that connect physical interaction to digital systems.
Status
Current development stage
StartInUP lists the company at the prototype stage. Its profile describes a proposed smart mattress using a large-area optical sensor sheet to map pressure distribution and identify prolonged pressure for caregiver attention.[2]
Yantrolok's current work centres on prototype development, electronics integration, calibration and pilot discussions. Product readiness, clinical performance and manufacturability depend on further application-specific testing and validation.
Editorial note
Sources and transparency
Yantropedia distinguishes first-party descriptions from external records. A company source can explain Yantrolok's intentions and technology direction, while government and corporate-information sources can help verify routine facts. These sources should not be read as independent validation of technical or commercial claims.
