Raised in a remote rural part in Assam, Dr. Abhijit began his education in a one-teacher school with minimal resources. This experience instilled in him resilience and a lifelong ability to overcome challenges. Driven by a deep curiosity about the natural world, he pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Science, where he developed a passion for first-principles thinking. He learned to break problems down to their core and build solutions from the ground up.

He went on to earn Master’s degrees in Nanoscience and Technology and in Bioelectronics, and later completed a PhD in Chemical Engineering at IIT Kanpur. Along this journey, he discovered a guiding principle: real breakthroughs come from disciplined, systematic inquiry, powered by first-principles thinking and sustained cross-disciplinary effort.

After his PhD, he served as an INSPIRE Faculty fellow at IISc Bangalore, then moved into industry which helped him in preparing himself as an entrepreneur. His association with a medical instrument company teach him corporate operations and later on working with a startup let him learn team building and company structure. He strengthened his toolkit with a CTO program from a Management Department, IIT Kanpur, Google Project Management, ISO 13485 compliance training from URS, a Six Sigma Green Belt from Tata Steel, and a 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing course from MIT, USA. He has built a strong professional network with 14,000-plus LinkedIn connections, engaged with investors, and participated in business development conferences while shaping his personal brand as a deep tech leader.

These experiences led him to found Yantrolok, focused on translating cutting-edge research into practical products. His vision is to position Yantrolok as a global leader in soft electronics and tactile interfaces, and to build a company that turns rigorous science into meaningful real-world impact.

Accolades and contributions: recipient of the BIRAC-SRISTI Gandhian Young Technological Innovation Award, the INAE Innovative PhD Thesis Projects Award, and the Stock Innovation and Excellence Award. Holder of 13 patents across India, the United States, and Europe. Author of multiple peer-reviewed publications in soft electronics, bioinstrumentation, and human-machine interfaces.
